There has been significant interest in the temporary campground ordinance approved by the Jackson County Board last week. The purpose of this ordinance is to establish easily achieved, minimal standards for temporary campgrounds located in unincorporated Jackson County, while protecting public health and safety.
To help educate the public on the ordinance, a web page has been created (www.jchdonline.org; click on Eclipse graphic at top). The page contains links to the ordinance, an FAQ on applicable regulations, portable toilet and hand wash requirements, and the form for registering a temporary campground.
In addition, the page contains links to solar eclipse eye safety information, and extreme heat safety. These are two public health issues we would like eclipse event planners to be aware of.
Please visit the page and pass it along to other interested parties. We are happy to answer any questions, but feel free to read the FAQ document first, as it will likely answer your questions.
